Why are we waiting at MOT?

The MOT, the technical inspection of vehicles, is a mandatory inspection which is defined by law by the Greek state. All owners must pass MOT inspection of their vehicles, why it is primarily a matter of security themselves and the other users of the road network.

The technical inspection process is therefore governed by various rules, with the aim of proper and adequate technical inspection.
One such rule is minimum time required to complete the roadworthiness test, which is different for each vehicle category.
For example for passenger cars the minimum time is 20 minutes, for motorcycles it is 15 minutes, for trucks over 3.5 tons with 2 axles it is 30 minutes. This practically means that in order to complete the technical inspection and to issue a Technical Inspection Certificate, at least the time period corresponding to each vehicle category is required.

How is the minimum inspection time measured?
The first thing the inspector does during the inspection process is to photograph the vehicle to be inspected. From that moment the inspection time starts to count and if the minimum time for each vehicle category is not completed, the inspector cannot issue a Technical Inspection Certificate.

Why is there a minimum time?
The Ministry of Transport introduced the minimum audit time in 2012, to ensure the correct audit process and to carry out the audit within a reasonable time frame.
A quick check is not always reliable. In this way, the Ministry of Transport knows the exact time when the inspection begins and together with the photos and all the measurements are sent electronically to the computer system of the Ministry.

The most important thing when you pass your vehicle through MOT, is to do proper control and not just go through control because it has to.
Think about the safety of both your life and your vehicle, so this time is definitely not wasted.

At MOT Kalamaras we consider that the proper technical inspection and value of human life are two interrelated concepts and that is why when we return your vehicle key, we are sure that it is safe and suitable for traffic.
So see technical inspection as an obligation for your safety and not as a legal obligation.
